www.selfmanagement.co.uk has been developed as a resource centre for professionals and volunteers who are part of the self-management community in England, working with people living with long term health conditions.
At the heart of www.selfmanagement.co.uk is The National Register of Self-Management, a searchable database of tutors, assessors, trainers and Lead trainers who are trained and accredited to deliver Expert Patient Programme - Chronic Disease Self Management Programme. The NRSM will provide PCTs and other commissioning bodies with a way of both finding tutors to deliver courses and checking their accreditation. Everyone on the register will be accredited or in the process of accreditation. It is important that everyone who is involved in delivering Self-Management courses in England is included on the register as this is the way that PCTs will be able to enure that participants are only offered course run by fully accredited tutors.

The Department of Health (DH) has asked EPP CIC to provide a number of services to Primary Care Trusts to ensure the best possible outcome for self-management in England, with the ultimate aim of ensuring that all people with long term conditions have access to EPP courses, with the provision of 100,000 places by 2012.
In order to meet its responsibilities, EPP CIC has agreed to set up a centre of excellence for self-management. This includes a National Register of accredited tutors, trainers and assessors, quality control checks on course materials and manuals, the distribution of those materials; and regular audits across the NHS to evaluate the courses
EPP CIC are a not-for-profit social enterprise established in April 2007 following the Government’s commitment to treble their investment in EPP CIC to expand the work already undertaken across England in the area of self care and self-management.
We offer free courses for people living with long-term health conditions with the aim of improving the quality of life for people living with long-term health conditions. Our courses are designed to give people the tools, techniques and confidence to manage their condition better on a daily basis.
